Appearance: Aside from his spiky carrot-orange hair (most likely dyed) and dark blue eyes that seem a little purple under certain lights, Neku looks, for the most part, just an average, ordinary teenager. He stands at around 5’2” and has a rather slight frame. Usually, he has on a stern expression, even if it’s being hidden by his hair or the collar of his clothing. He is perfectly capable of smiling, but it’s a difficult thing to make him do, so most everyone around him doesn’t really know what his smile looks like anymore.
He usually wears clothes that most any other modern Japanese teen would wear, but doesn’t really follow the latest trends. Most of the clothes he chooses tend to be dark-colored or white in nature. No matter what he wears, however, he always wears the same headphones over his ears, so much so that it’s become his trademark of sorts. More often than not he’s listening to music blaring from it, one of his hobbies besides designing stylized graffiti.
Personality: Neku is rather detached from everyone and the world. He does not trust anyone, can’t bring himself to, since he can’t understand them or see their worth. It doesn’t help that he avoids his classmates at school, and vice versa. Always the loner of the class, which of course did not help his mental state one bit. This attitude of his has recently pushed him to hate the world so much that he once wished that everyone was gone except for him.
Putting aside his general frustration at humanity, he is quite the introspective individual. He often comments on his situation and the people around in his head, usually questioning why they’re acting in such a way. While he seems more observant than most normal people, he really isn’t, and occasionally (and humorously) mistakes things or people for another. An example would be him thinking that an animal plushie is a pig rather than a cat…even if it is pretty obvious it’s a cat. Another would be mistaking the gender of someone during their first few meetings.
Also, even if he acts otherwise, he wouldn’t really try to injure someone unless some serious provoking occurs. He never really was a “bad” person, just jaded and cynical to the point of apathy.
